It is very important for cubs to have brothers and sisters. By playing together, littermates not only release energy but also improve different skill, which are important for their survival. Malaika’s cubs spend significant amount of time playing, but become serious once any danger is detected. When Malaika spotted a lioness walking at a distance of over 400 meters, she led the cubs to another location with a better view. Until sunset, she was keeping an eye on the area where the lioness had disappeared. She completely ignored a prey and a jackal, which was barking at them for a quarter of an hour. The female preferred staying hungry to a danger of being spotted by a powerful enemy.
