Fast Five leaving “messages”. While patrolling the areas, males mark different objects by urinating and defecating on the bushes, patches of grass, logs, termite mounds and trees, sometimes climbing high. They scratch the ground with the hind legs and mark the spot by leaving a scent from the anal glands. They also claw tree trunks and rub over them. This marking is a signal to other males indicating an occupied territory as well as a notification to females of their presence in the area, a vital aspect in reproduction.
